Across the 1997–98 and 1998–99 seasons, Rangers wore the same Nike home shirt with the McEwan’s Lager sponsor, a kit associated with both disappointment and triumph. The 1997–98 campaign saw the club narrowly miss out on a historic tenth successive league title, finishing behind Celtic despite strong performances from the likes of Jörg Albertz, Marco Negri, and Brian Laudrup. The following season brought a dramatic turnaround as new manager Dick Advocaat rebuilt the squad, introducing a more dynamic and technical style of play that powered Rangers to an emphatic domestic Treble. With standout contributions from Barry Ferguson, Rod Wallace, Giovanni van Bronckhorst, and Arthur Numan, the two-year period became defined by both the heartbreak of a lost milestone and the emphatic resurgence that followed.
